We’ve gotten word that the National Board Development Committee has sent a memo to council CEOs and board chairs about the nomination process for our National Board of Directors and our National Board Development Committee (NBDC). The people nominated by the NBDC will be listed in the National Council’s agenda/program and will be elected during the 2020 National Council Session.
Per the GSUSA constitution (Article XII, Section 9), the NBDC will be nominating a single slate of nominees for officer positions on the National Board, members-at-large of the National Board, and members of the NBDC. Nominations from the floor are allowed at the 2020 NCS, provided that appropriate notice and consent have been given, as specified in Article XII, Section 10.
Clearly, our NBDC needs help in identifying individuals who may qualify for national board service. Such individuals are not easy to come by, as they need to be dedicated to the principles, beliefs, and mission of Girl Scouting, have the background and experiences that would make them excellent board members of a national organization such as ours, have the types of connections (including to potential funders) that one would expect for a national board of a major non-profit, and have both the time and willingness to serve. Be thinking about whether you know anyone who you think would make a good national board member, and if you do, consider submitting a nominee. And, if you personally are interested, believe you are qualified, and meet the criteria, self-nominations are accepted.
Whether you are nominating yourself or someone else, the nomination process requires that you use an on-line form (link below). You will find the NBDC’s criteria for nomination for both the national board and for the NBDC when you follow the link—and make sure you or your nominee meets those critical areas of qualifications and expertise! VERY IMPORTANT: The NBDC asks that you do NOT contact your potential referral at this time. After reviewing all referrals, the NBDC will advise you of any next steps.

The deadline for submitting nominations is March 31, 2019.
After the deadline, this article will be removed.
